much needed time

at home

hey, what better place to stray

from all the clamor

of another dollar

for another day

no needs

no pressing

no smiles

hiding highly explosive

expressions of

concrete cracking at the pressure of

the weight of the world with

truth begging to seep

burst through this thin, quivering film of remaining dignity

can’t afford that

to be seen

or heard

somewhat peaceful is all i’ve got

and right now

it’s all i need

thank God

for a day

the stench of $1000

slipping through my fingers

last days characteristics

compassion lingers in my heart

but all love aside

the walls are pores for the black mold

Christmas is coming

winter is cold

the heat now

beats against windows toward the street

the well seeps

with decades of chemistry underneath

i can’t sleep

trying to tell her that it’s alright

to comfort her through another day leading to empty night

Lord shed Your Grace

i’m starting to quiver beneath the weight

i’m working with all that’s in me

help me weather the wait

of Your slumlord.

Pitch black

Can’t see hand before face

Can’t see cause, gender, or race

Just lifeforms

Images muddled by disbelief

Why and

When cometh Thy sweet relief

I’m shell shocked

Trouble’s my neighbor

Fair weather friend

It seems like

As soon as I breathe

Trouble begins

I long now

For nothing beyond the peace of my mind

Beyond a piece of Your time

Unmarred by this place in time

The sewage reaks

The water gets sharper with every taste

The oxygen leaks

Feels like I’m drowning in outer space

and all the while

Their glimmering smiles congratulate

Their lips serving sweet nothings

Their eyes hollow with hate

Pitch black

…all wounds

Trickle down

soft crease

soft skin

sharp pain

no relief

storm chokes

hard rain.

Trickle down

deep crease

thick skin

old friend

know Him well

sweet relief

storm cleans

tears mend.

My girl

She doesn’t think much of herself

but I do

And I will

as long as the sky’s blue

and the land’s still

sweet cream

mingled with the south’s finest of cocoas

sweet dream

mixings of passion, sweetness, and loco

or loca

more stimulating than native coca

woman for certain

sweet almond roca

that’s my girl

sweet scent of destiny

true love

I’ve known by its real name

that’s my girl

Two different blues

She wore two different blues today

One dark

One darker

Poor lighting will do that
